my story -

  I am Alissa Carmi, founder and owner of Bambica Studio situated in Yodfat in the beautiful & wild Galilee area of northern Israel.

My background is art and design - working for many years as a textile designer.

  Since childhood, I've always loved candles and especially fragrant candles and so  in 2018 I decided to learn how to make a few just for myself. 

I started practicing my new hobby in my kitchen but very soon my hobby outgrew my kitchen and became my full time job.

Making candles naturally progressed to soap making and then to producing other fragrant products with my daughter, who has joined me in the business.

Ingredients - suitable for vegans

   I use only high quality raw materials & I am committed to producing products that contain a high percentage of natural ingredients. I believe that using natural ingredients, especially when locally sourced, such as the cold-pressed olive oil from our village or the herbs collected in the surrounding hills, imparts a special quality to the finished product.

  I do not include any animal products or animal-derived products unless clearly and specifically stated in the description. For example: if a specific candle is made with beeswax or a specific soap contains milk - it will be clearly indicated as not suitable for vegans.

the fragrances -   

  I create my own unique fragrances for use in my products which are blends of perfume oils together with natural plant extracts or essential oils.

design, packaging and production -   

  My background as an artist and designer naturally made me want to design the packaging in my style. The challenge of creating the labels and packaging for my own products is an enjoyable task.  The packaging of every product is done here in the studio (which includes printing labels) and none of the production is outsourced.  Where possible, the packing materials we use are either recyclable or biodegradable and use of plastics kept to a minimum.

what is natural soap? -  

  My cold-process soaps are based on vegetable oils and waxes and have no artificial colours or preservatives. You will find that they provide plenty of lather and will not dry your skin.

'Cold-process' is the ancient and traditional method of soap making.  Oils (or fats) are combined with sodium hydroxide (lye) which results in a chemical reaction called saponification.
These types of soaps are rich in natural glycerin which helps to hydrate the skin & forms a protective barrier against irritants.
My soaps may also contain various natural clays and herbs which impart beneficial qualities and also add to the visual appeal.

bambica studio candles -  

   All of my candles are made with my unique recipe which includes a high percentage of natural vegetable waxes and oils such as: soy wax, coconut oil and locally sourced virgin olive oil.

This gives a clean burning, long lasting candle with a good scent throw.
Jar candles are a wonderfully pretty way to instantly add a spot of light and life to any area inside or outside the home - just perfect for scenting rooms or a garden area, patio or veranda.
